Yeah the dev even scrubbed the discord, there's clearly no intention of going back to it in the future. Dev couldn't get it funded through SubscribeStar or Patreon and so pulled the plug. It's a big sad

Also I think you misunderstand "hot take" general observations aren't "hot takes" xD
About the Discord: of course he had to remove everything reminding of this game. He would risk again the new created Patreon since they check that and also the new game thread here on F95. That's maybe the reason why there isn't even a link from the new game thread to this one.

Huh. Soon porn games will be turned into the same sterile, vanilla, and uninteresting ****, that movies, TV shows, and regular games have already been turned into :). And that's porn games, oxymoron. Sadly.
I mean, at the end of the day, that really is the intention behind it all. The only way to push back is to be a perverted as possible for free. I'm trusting the rest of you, my fellow degenerates, to keep fighting the good fight!

SubsribeStar fucking sucks. End of story. It is a place where games go to die.
At least it can charge cards properly, Patreon doesn't work 90% of the time and you're waiting months beofre suddenly it'll charge your card again for a month then stop working.
Patreon sucks.

Patreon sucks because of the content they are not allowing. But Subscribestar is only a bunch of moro.. anymore. No response if you want some help there. No payment ability for quite some countries (I tried at least four different credit cards, none was accepted). And as you can see with this dev no response since months for game developers trying to make a new page there either. That site was maybe an alternative some time ago, but now it's only a big mess.

as a newbie I am wondering, can the developer create his own site and enable transactions ?
That's not really the problem he's running into. It's all about payment processors - credit cards, bank transfers, paypal transfers, pre-paid credit cards or charged debit cards. Some site software handles CCs just fine, but few of the others. And a lot of people seem to use Patreon (Paypal) for it's alternate ways of adding funds. Other processors may not want to cover adult (or illicit entertainment type) transactions.

From what I understand, Patreon is cracking down as they're going public in the near future (?), and want to appear like they don't have any illicit content they're backing.

And there's of course the problem of independent website security. If you don't have a dedicated security person constantly updating the site/code (or an entire team), you put yourself and your subscribers at risk.

Personally I go for the Venmo option myself, and got a Venmo card to cover online stuff. I keep my regular CCs for daily and professional use.

There isn't currently a really easy option to get around the draconian Paypal issue that's safe and offers all the same payment options. It'd be nice to see SubscribeStar step up, get some more approved payment processing options, and allow the same unfiltered content it's always had.

Thanks for the clarification... new fintechs are fluid with their rules which are based on third world countries which support international payments with 2 to 3 % charges on transactions.. razorpay is one of them. but there might be restrictions to register from different country.

Sucks it's getting abandoned because of websites but like.. is there a reason these devs can't come up with some way to take crypto payments?

As I understand it the dev didn't have anywhere to upload BITBG to paying subscribers at all even if they could identify and block leakers. Sites like f95 are also the only way many potential subscribers can find out about most AVN's in development so it wouldn't make sense to try and keep the game from being pirated.
How is that possible? What about Itch.io Or Fanbox? Some of the shit people get away with posting to their monetized accounts without getting in trouble is astounding.

In theory they probably could but theres still problems with that. Subscriptions through crypto doesnt work well, gas fees eat up to much of the profit. Not everyone is comfortable with crypto, a sizeable portion of their fanbase just won't do it.

The old sections are just archived, when I went back to the discord the channel names had been changed to Archive-[old name] and hidden but you could still see it until you left it.

Dev has expressed a desire to return to it, just needs to find a way to keep making money off it first.

This is exactly why the Discord was cleansed. I don't get where the Abandoned tag came from, as if people just assumed it after the Discord didn't mentioned it anymore and jumped to conclusions.

SubscribeStar is notoriously slow to respond to new creators. Some have waited over a year. They are criminally understaffed, so some applications are just collecting cobwebs.

Oh, that's what happened to me. I've just sent my petition, they just told me that they coudn't pay to my country (I replied them back that through their partner, Fiverr, they could pay me) and never heard of them again. Sigh, I know they are understaffed but they could at least put some effort on the new creators on their platform.

No, I was addressing the question of why he didn't start up a site on a host that had a recurring donation module. It's insanely hard to do it solo and keep security strong enough to protect everyone if you aren't using someone else (like SubscribeStar or Patreon). Been in web development long enough to know you want to secure anything to do with money with companies that have their own security teams, unless it's 1-off payments (and even then still good to use someone else).
